COVID UPDATES

Update – 5pm Friday 24th September 2021

Vaccination Survey

Thanks to all of the members who responded to the online survey last week. We had an incredible turnout with nearly 450 surveys filled before it closed on Tuesday.

Overwhelmingly, the majority of respondents were already double vaccinated (84%) or are receiving their second shot within the next couple of weeks (13%).

Return to Fourballs on Saturday 2nd October 2021.

After careful consideration, the Board of Directors has agreed that competition play can return to fourballs for players who have been double vaccinated from Saturday 2nd October.

All time sheets from that point forward will be a combination of four balls and two balls for competition play. Two balls will remain for public and social play.

Under the current Public Health Orders (PHO), members who cannot produce proof of double vaccination will not be permitted to play in fours. Players are still only permitted to be from the Randwick LGA or live within 5km of the Club.

Proof of Vaccination

Members will be required to prove their vaccination status each time they play or can consent to the Club recording their status on our secure database. MiClub has provided an update to the booking system which now allows the Club to load a members vaccination status. This information remains private and confidential for administration view only and will not display on the timesheet. We also do not keep individual vaccine records once the status has been set.

For ease of process we encourage members to provide a copy of their vaccination certificate in person or via email office@coastgolf.com.au prior to play. Thanks to the more than 250 members who have already done so.

Exceptions will only be provided for legitimate medical reasons supported by an official medical exemption submitted to the General Manager.

Clubhouse to reopen for takeaway sales (only) from Saturday 2nd October

With kitchen and bar renovations almost complete, it is time to reopen the Bar and Henry’s to take away sales from Saturday 2nd October. We look forward to making further announcements about the full reopening of the Club in the near future.

Regards,

Update – 9am Friday 3rd September 2021

Dear Members,

Yesterday Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced an important update for Local Government Areas of Concern.

From 5.00 am on Friday, September 3rd, residents in any of the Local Government Areas of Concern will be able to exercise for an unlimited period of time – a change from the current one-hour exercise rule. Residents may leave their home to exercise in groups of two or less (or members of the same household) and must stay within 5km of their home. The 9.00 pm to 5.00 am curfew remains in place.

This means that once again, residents of Bayside LGA who live within 5km of the Club are welcome to attend The Coast Golf Club and play 18 holes of golf.

Update – 11am Friday 27 August 2021

Dear Members,

The Board of Directors met via Zoom last night and determined that for a member of visitor to attend the Club, they must now live only in the Randwick LGA.

Bayside LGA is a “declared area” (LGA of concern) with residents instructed “Do not travel outside your local area if you can avoid it.” Further to this, under the current PHO, residents of declared areas are restricted to only one hour of exercise per day.

The Board and Management felt that permitting access to those Bayside LGA residents inside 5km was difficult to determine and administer. We do not wish to place any members in harm’s way or have them unintentionally breach the health order.

We will continue to engage with other Golf Clubs in those LGA’s of Concern to see if they can provide any access to their golf facilities for our members who reside within 5km.

Stay safe everyone.

Update – 4pm Thursday 12 August 2021

Dear Members,

Changes to the NSW Health Public Health Order – 5km restriction for Bayside LGA

Earlier today NSW Health announced changes to the Public Health Order that will come in to effect as of 5pm today (Thursday 12th August).

Under the changes, Bayside LGA has been categorised as an “Area of Concern” and therefore has been placed under tighter Stay at Home orders. These orders include, but are not limited to, only being able to exercise within 5km of your residence.

This means, for members residing in Bayside LGA, only those living within 5km of the Golf Club will only be permitted to attend.  We ask that members living within the Bayside LGA but outside 5km, please remove your name from the timesheet immediately and do not attend the Club until restrictions ease.

The following links can used to determine whether your address falls within the eligible area:

Bayside Council:

Mask Wearing – Covid Check-In

Members are reminded that masks are mandatory when entering the Clubhouse or Pro Shop. Staff reserve the right to refuse service to those who don’t comply. Check-in via the Service NSW App is also mandatory, and must be completed before your round at the Pro Shop.

As previously stated, the Board of Directors have agreed that some form of compensation will be offered to those members who are not able to access their membership benefit due to PHO restrictions. More details will be distributed to those members effected when the time is appropriate.

We appreciate that this is a very difficult time and thank those members who have been compliant of the stay at home orders.

Stay safe everyone.

Update – 4pm Monday 26 July 2021

Dear Members,

While no official word has been received, it is looking very likely that the current Public Health Order restrictions will continue past Friday 30th July.

This extended lockdown has been challenging for everyone and we understand that for many, golf has been their only recreational outlet.

The Club is doing everything it can to remain open safely and we thank members for their patience and cooperation.

The Board and Management are aware of member concerns and continue to make changes whenever possible to alleviate those frustrations.

With two balls only permitted, demand at an all-time high and we are making small changes to ensure members are being given equal access. These decisions are carefully considered and made for the benefit of the entire membership.

Changes to the Lottery Process from Friday 30th July

  • From Friday 30th July, Saturday and Sunday timesheets will be opened simultaneously at 6pm. Due to increasingly heavy demand on weekend timesheets, Members will only be permitted to access one of these timesheets as part of the lottery. Timesheets will continue to be closely monitored to ensure as many members as possible get access to the golf course.
  • Only 5 members will gain access to the timesheet at a time (down from 10). This is to try and alleviate some of the frustration caused when attempting to book a time and getting the “row already booked” message. This message will come up when a row appears available but there is already another member in that row trying to book.
  • Members will have 60 seconds to confirm their booking (down from 90). This is to try and speed up the booking process. Members previously had 90 seconds to book 4 spots and now have 60 seconds to book 2 spots. If booking has not been confirmed within this timeframe, the time will be able to be accessed by other members.
  • Monday to Friday timesheets will continue to be released at 6pm eight days in advance.

For more information on how the lottery works please click here

Waitlist:

A reminder to those members that do miss out to please add your name to the waitlist as tee times often become available as the week progresses.

Timesheets close at 9pm on the day prior to the event so anyone wishing to cancel for the following day, please do so before 9pm to allow the waitlist to notify a substitute player.

No Shows, Late Cancellations and “Blockers”

We would like to remind members of the importance of considering others when booking. If you decide you cannot play, cancel your name from the timesheet as soon as possible to enable the waitlist function.

Late cancellations (or changes) will often leave an individual without a playing partner which causes unnecessary angst. Not to mention a game missed for those on the waitlist.

The process of substituting players and/or swapping names is not permitted with members on the waitlist taking priority. If visitors or other members are substituted at last minute the Club reserves the right to take action which may include bookings rights being suspended.  Ultimately, the starter is in control of the timesheet and any incidents recorded will be referred to the Committee for appropriate action.

Please remember that staff are doing their best in a very difficult situation so any verbal altercations with staff will not be tolerated.

Drink Voucher removed

The Committee has agreed to remove the ‘drink voucher’ from the competition fee until the Clubhouse reopens for service. Therefore, the member competition fee will be $17 until further notice.

10km Radius
Under the PHO only Members and Visitors residing within 10km of the club or in the Randwick LGA will be permitted on the golf course. The onus is on members to adhere to this order and if the Club becomes aware of rules being flouted you will be asked to leave the premises. For any members outside of this zone, we ask you to please remove your name from the timesheets immediately. Public and Visitors will be ask to verify their place of residence prior to play.

Once again, thanks to those members who have provided feedback and please be considerate of others in these difficult times.

Stay safe.

Kieran Semple

General Manager

Dear Members,

Under the current Public Health Order (PHO) golf is still permitted as exercise and we expect this to remain the case until at least the 30th July.

A reminder that only Members and Visitors residing within 10km of the club (or in the Randwick LGA) will be permitted on the golf course. Play is still in pairs (only) and carts are for single riders only. The cost of a single cart has been reduced to $25 for members.

The Clubhouse remains closed for trade but toilets and lockers may be accessed. Patrons are no longer able enter the Pro Shop, however takeaway sales are still permitted.

10km Radius:
Under the PHO only Members and Visitors residing within 10km of the club or in the Randwick LGA will be permitted on the golf course. The onus is on members to adhere to this order and if the Club becomes aware of rules being flouted you will be asked to leave the premises. Please see the map below.

For any members outside of this zone, we ask you to please remove your name from the timesheets immediately. Public and Visitors will be ask to verify their place of residence prior to play.

Pro Shop Operations:
It is compulsory for everyone to check in via the QR code on arrival. Payment can be made at the table in the entryway for cart and comp fees as well as food, drink and essential golfing supplies (I.e. gloves and balls). We ask that you wear a mask for all interactions with Pro Shop staff to ensure your safety and theirs.

Contactless Payments:
Only contact free payments of EFTPOS and Members account redemption will be accepted at this time.

MiScore:
It is highly encouraged that all members use MiScore.

Timesheets:

Competition times have been extended until at least 1pm for (SAT, SUN, TUE, WED, FRI). Social play is permitted thereafter. All play is in two balls only.

All timesheets are being released via online lottery at 6pm 8 days in advance except for Sunday which is released at 6.30pm nine days in advance (on Friday night).

Members have bene given priority access to all sheets and visitors will only be able to book into vacant spots 48 hours prior.

Timesheets close at 9pm the day prior to the event so we ask that anyone wishing to cancel for the following day, please do so before 9pm.

No Shows and Late Cancellations:

In the past week we have seen far too many players left on their own due to another members ‘no-show’. This is extremely selfish behaviour in two balls, particularly when we have players on the waitlist.

The Club will be enforcing penalties on any repeat offenders of late cancellations or no shows so be warned that this will not be tolerated.

We will continue to keep member updated of any changes via the website.

Stay safe.

Update – 1pm Thursday 1 July 2021.

Dear Members,

Please be advised that golf continues to be considered exercise so long as our Club complies with its COVID-19 Safety Plan. There has however been a change in advice around golf carts.

Advice form GolfNSW is that two players may share a golf cart, but masks must be worn in the cart as they cannot maintain 1.5 metres of physical distance between them.

Therefore, we ask that members wishing to share a cart please make sure they use a mask until further notice. The latest advice from GolfNSW can be found here

Again, we ask that golfers exhibit a heightened awareness of personal hygiene and adhere to social distancing guidelines at all times.

Competitions:

  • Use MiScore whenever possible. If not, mark your own scorecard. Do not swap cards, verify your score at completion of round with only your signature is required.
  • Scorecards are to be deposited in the competition box at reception for processing by the Club (not the scanner).

Golf Course:

  • Rakes have been removed from all bunkers. You may prefer your lie and rake with your foot or golf club as you exit the bunker.
  • Leave the flag in at all times and retrieve ball with your gloved hand.

This advice should be considered in addition to the instructions to members below.

We appreciate your patience and will continue to update you as changes as soon as they come to hand.

Update: 27 June 2021 at 11.30am

Dear Members,

The COVID-19 situation continues to evolve and due to the risks associated the NSW Government has extended the strict stay-at-home order to ALL of Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Wollongong until 11.59 pm on Friday, July 9th.

From 6.00 pm last night, people in these areas will only be able to leave home for one of the following four reasons:

  • Shopping for food or other essential goods and services
  • Medical care or compassionate needs
  • Exercise outdoors in groups of 10 or fewer
  • Essential work, or education, where you cannot work or study from home

You can read the full extent of restrictions here

We have been advised that golf is still considered exercise and can continue so long as our Club complies with its COVID-19 Safety Plan.

The Public Health Order has changed again with no restrictions on where that exercise can take place within the Greater Sydney area.

Therefore, members from all across greater Sydney are now able to exercise (play) at The Coast once more.

This is the third change to the Public Health Order in two days so we ask that members recognise that further changes to restrictions are likely and check the Clubs website regularly for updates.

Henry’s is still open for takeaway & delivery 5-8pm Wednesday to Saturday and 12-8pm Sunday on 93113085

We ask that golfers exhibit a heightened awareness of personal hygiene and adhere to social distancing guidelines at all times.

You may please prefer your lie and rake with your foot or golf club as you exit the bunker.
  • Leave the flag in at all times and retrieve ball with your gloved hand.

This advice should be considered in addition to the advice sent to members on Friday 25th June available on the Club website here

We appreciate your patience in this difficult situation.

Update: 25 June 2021 at 4.50pm

Dear Members,

Most of you will now be aware of the new Covid restrictions in place from 11.59pm this evening https://www.nsw.gov.au/media-releases/greater-sydney-covid-19-restrictions-extended

As the Club is located within the Randwick LGA, we are included in the stay at home order for (at least) the next seven days.

Therefore, you can only attend the Golf Course for the purpose of exercise. From midnight tonight, Clubhouse facilities will be closed apart from toilets and locker room access.

Until further advice is received; and in the interest of member safety we ask that you:

  • Stay away from the Club if you are unwell, display Covid symptoms or have visited a designated hotspot.
  • Only travel to the Club for the purpose of exercise
  • Wear a mask when entering the Golf Shop or Toilet Facilities in the Clubhouse.
  • No more than two patrons in the Golf Shop at any one time. Maintain social distancing of at least 1.5m.
  • Refrain from mingling or mixing as a group, especially around ‘practice facilities’
  • Please do not arrive at the Club more than 30 minutes prior to your tee time.
  • Return home as soon as your round is finished and score is submitted.

Further to this advice:

  • At this stage, fourballs are permissible and carts may be shared.
  • Timesheets will only be available via the online ballot until further notice – there will be no Friday night draw.
  • Where possible you use MiScore and contactless payment methods.
  • Drinks vouchers can be redeemed in the Pro Shop prior to play and used for takeaway drinks, sandwiches and pies.

We appreciate your patience during this time and will update the website regularly with any further changes
