{"id":6034,"date":"2023-01-10T09:59:57","date_gmt":"2023-01-09T22:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coastgolf.com.au\/cms\/?page_id=6034"},"modified":"2026-04-09T07:23:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T21:23:42","slug":"local-rules-course-conditions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.coastgolf.com.au\/cms\/play\/local-rules-course-conditions\/","title":{"rendered":"Local Rules &#038; Course Conditions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>COURSE CONDITIONS<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/h4>\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>CARTS &#8211; ON<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-center\">PLAY AS IT LIES<\/h5>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Staked Bunkers out of play<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>WEATHER<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bom.gov.au\/places\/nsw\/little-bay\/\">Click Here<\/a><!-- \/wp:post-content --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph {\"align\":\"center\"} --><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">______________________________________<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Temporary Local Rules<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Areas of New Work<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Areas where it is clear that course work has recently taken place are to be treated as GUR even if they are not marked as such.<\/p>\n<p>These areas include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3<sup>rd<\/sup> Hole (adjacent to new Short Game Facility)<\/li>\n<li>5<sup>th<\/sup> Hole (Drainage works just before temporary green)<\/li>\n<li>7<sup>th<\/sup> Hole (Drainage works on north side of creek)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>NEW LOCAL RULE &#8211; Damage to bunkers by dogs<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>If a ball in any bunker lies in a footprint or damage caused by a dog, relief may be taken without penalty in accordance with Rule 16-1c. This <strong>Local Rule<\/strong> does not apply to any other damage within the bunker.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Consultation with your marker must be made prior to determine whether the print or damage was made by a dog. Failure to consult your marker prior to taking relief may result in a penalty of two (2) strokes (Breach of Local Rule). <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Relief is available for interference by the damage condition to the lie of the ball or area of intended swing only and not interference to the players stance. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When taking relief under this rule, the ball must be dropped within the bunker, no nearer the hole, as per the standard dropping procedure. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0Rule 16-1c allows for relief to be taken outside the bunker under the penalty of (1) stroke. These markings indicate that if a ball comes to rest in this area, it must not be played, even if found. Players <strong>must<\/strong> take penalty relief as per normal procedures for a Red Penalty Area (RULE 8.6)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>All course marking eg: tee markers, stakes defining penalty areas, GUR, drop zones, but not including out of bounds markers are to be treated as immovable obstructions and relief may be taken if your ball has come to rest within the General Area (RULE 16.1)<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>NB: A ball in a penalty area &#8211; no relief without penalty if interfered by penalty area stake or immovable obstruction (RULE 16.1)<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>DISTANCE MARKERS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>All distance markers are to the centre of the green<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>200m (blue), 150m (white) &amp; 100m (red) are identified by posts located at side of the fairway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Distance posts are considered an immovable obstruction and relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.<\/p>\n<p>Line of sight relief can not be taken.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>FIXED SPRINKLER HEADS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>All fixed sprinkler heads in the general area are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained under RULE 16-1.<\/p>\n<p>If a ball lies off the putting green but not in a penalty area and is within two (2) club lengths of the intervening sprinkler head which is on or within two (2) club lengths of the green and is on the line of intended play, it may be lifted, cleaned and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay which:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Is not nearer the hole<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Is not in a penalty area or on a putting green<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>GARDEN BEDS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>All garden beds are classified as General Area unless otherwise marked. (No relief)<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>GROUND UNDER REPAIR<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>All new work may be treated as GUR and relief taken (RULE 16)<\/p>\n<p><strong>May be indicated by white paint ground markings, white pegs or signage.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Free Relief is allowed when:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The player\u2019s ball is in the GUR area as described above.<\/li>\n<li>The GUR interferes with the player\u2019s stance or area of their intended swing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rule 16.1<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>LINE OF SIGHT<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>There is no provision in the Rules of Golf or our Local Rules for this condition. This means no line-of-sight relief from distance posts, safety screens, bridges, seats &amp; bins etc.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>VEHICLE WHEEL TRACKS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>(Course maintenance vehicles and golf carts\/pull-buggies)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>General Area:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>A player whose ball comes to rest in a wheel track caused only by golf course maintenance tractors, they may take relief without penalty, within one club length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief, but not in a penalty area (RULE 16).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>If the ball lies through the green, on a wheel track, in areas of the course where carts are directed by the Course Superintendent by signage or ropes, but not on a made path, the player may lift the ball and drop it, without penalty, within one club length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief, but not in a penalty area (RULE 16)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>MAN-MADE PATHWAYS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Defined pathways constructed from Bitumen, Concrete, Plastic Matting and Crushed rock \/ road-base are to be treated as immovable obstructions and relief may be taken. Also, beyond the green as marked at garden bed and fencing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>When playing the 18<sup>th<\/sup> hole.<!-- wp:list -->\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>The beach area beyond the boundary fence line at left hand side of fairway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list-item --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>9<sup>th<\/sup> hole (whole area from dam to rear of green). After the ball has been moved and placed, it is in play.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Before the ball is moved or lifted, it must first be marked <\/strong>(RULE 14.1).<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>IN DROP ZONES<\/strong> &#8211; All designated drop zones (7th, 16th, 18th) and any temporary drop zones, can be played as &#8220;Preferred Lies&#8221; at all times. Even when Play As It Lies conditions are in play.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Where indicated on notices at the Golf Shop area or on the Club web page (accessible through QR Codes on all tee sign), the Committee may advise of the application of a Temporary Local Rule which may be needed to cover a special condition applicable on the day of play.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":3} --><\/p>\n<h3><strong>EMBEDDED BALL \u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Through the green, a ball that is embedded in its own pitch mark <strong>in the ground<\/strong>, other than sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but no nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Note: a player may not obtain relief under this Local Rule if it is clearly unreasonable for him to make a stroke because of interference by anything other than the condition covered by this Local Rule.
