{"id":8915,"date":"2025-11-06T19:08:47","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T08:08:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.coastgolf.com.au\/cms\/?p=8915"},"modified":"2025-11-06T19:29:29","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T08:29:29","slug":"spring-locust-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coastgolf.com.au\/cms\/2025\/11\/06\/spring-locust-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Locust Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have not reported since winter on the work performed by the Clubs locusts, but it is fair to say that much of our time is spent maintaining what has been cleaned up over recent years.<\/p>\n<p>The locusts have welcomed three new members, Stephen McFadyen, Luis Gonzalez, and David Quigg, which currently means there are 16 members involved in assisting the green shed in maintaining the course. On behalf of the Locusts I would like to thank Jordan and Jake for their support.<\/p>\n<p>Tasks performed on a regular Monday basis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contour deck cutting the first line of rough and mounds around the entire 18 holes. Performed by Bill McGregor and Paul Bonomy<\/li>\n<li>Rough cutting ( it\u2019s a bonus having 2 cutters) Performed by Warren Hogan, Brad Fifield , Tony de Kievit, and myself.<\/li>\n<li>The ponds created by heavy rain meant the locusts got their ryobi pumps out to clean up the areas, ( mainly 3<sup>rd<\/sup> ) which was a regular event for a while.<\/li>\n<li>With all the rain we had, filling in divots became a priority on tees and fairways. Stephen McFadyen, Peter Brown, Ian Hamilton, Luis Gonzalez, and David Quigg were out there most Mondays.<\/li>\n<li>Arthur White along with a Club neighbour Kerrie continue every Monday and Thursday clearing out the toxic weeds on 12<sup>th<\/sup>, 13<sup>th<\/sup> and 15<sup>th<\/sup> whilst planting natives. They have been doing this continuously for at least 5 years.<\/li>\n<li>Tony Rowland and Steve Day do most of the whipper snipping , and since the last report they would have cleaned up ALL hazard lines around the course, and most likely more than once.<\/li>\n<li>Wayne Tilley continues to clean up his favourite areas and because of his consistency many of these can now be rough cut. LHS 7<sup>th <\/sup>nth, LHS 10 path, back 11<sup>th<\/sup> green down to 12<sup>th<\/sup> tee, LHS and RHS 15<sup>th<\/sup> tee, RHS bottom 16<sup>th<\/sup> .<\/li>\n<li>Removal of dead trees around the course. Van Kendall has taken many a trailer load to LHS 17<sup>th<\/sup> for dumping.<\/li>\n<li>Tony de Kievit plays a role, trimming bushes, clearing drains, painting up the hazards and OOB area whilst planting new trees.
